Website Bio

A Super-Soldier of peak strength, endurance, & dexterity originating from an experimental serum given to him during World War II.

Biography

Born on July 4th, 1920 in Brooklyn to foreign immigrants who fought hard to give their son a good life, Steve Rogers was the subject of the United States Army's Project: Rebirth. He was transformed into the first of what was planned to be the army's super-soldiers, but he was the only successful creation, due to disruption by enemy forces. Rogers fought primarily in Europe against the Axis forces, notably the Nazis, and is said to have fought Adolf Hitler once, even smashing him in the face with his original shield. In recognition of this, Rogers was promoted to captain. Shortly after, Rogers took on the name of Captain America. During his time in Europe, he received help from various allied forces including US Corporal Clarence Davis and was given a magnetized Vibranium shield. Steve was also romantically involved with British Agent Peggy Carter. Rogers was also a long-time ally of Azzuri, the World War II's Black Panther, and thereby Wakanda's long-time ally.

During the final days of the war, Captain America was frozen in the arctic during one of his missions. Rather than dying, the super soldier formula cryogenically froze him, though he remained unfound for decades. At some point in the 21st century, Rogers was discovered by the Avengers, who thawed him out of the ice. Joining the team, he continued to operate as Captain America and battled a new variety of enemies. Rogers was also responsible for bring Wakanda into international diplomatic relations through its current Black Panther, T'Challa.

Road to A-Day

Events of MA: Iron Man

When the Lethal Legion attacked a SHIELD convoy, Captain America joined Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, and Hulk to stop the group. Due to upgrades made from stolen Stark Technology, they struggled to defeat them. During the fight, Rogers fought Titania and knocked out Absorbing Man with his shield.

Events of MA: Captain America

When Batroc the Leaper and his Brigade attacked a SHIELD convoy, Rogers engaged the group to stop their robbery. Due to the recent death of Davis, Rogers was too distracted and unfocused, which gave the group an advantage in the fight. Despite this, he was ultimately able to subdue the brigade members. After Batroc "discovered" the convoy was empty and fled, Cap stood down to attend Davis' funeral.

Arriving late, Rogers remembered how Davis, a member of a special intelligence unit, had been been essential for one of his missions. Having been deployed to take down a radar facility, Cap had been warned by the soldier about the facility actually being a trap designed to capture him for the Axis forces. Though told to sit out, he led the charge, using their info to plan the attack and strategies that had led to them capturing the facilities. Roger also contemplated how Davis was the last surviving member of the unit, thus had lost another part of his past.

After the funeral, Rogers realized that Batroc's heist was merely a ruse to track SHIELD equipment to a lockup facility. Smuggling himself in via the damaged vehicle, he managed to catch the criminal by surprise and fought him, defeating him single-handedly. As SHIELD agents arrived to take him into custody, Rogers contemplated how the Avengers needed to adapt and bring new members into the fold, with their enemies growing smarter each day. He then called Stark to discuss it further, leading to their decision to expand the Avengers to San Francisco.

Events of MA: The Extinction Key

When Romanoff returned after a failed mission to capture an known artifacts dealer, Rogers accompanied her and Maria Hill in investigating the target's cause of death. After determining it through an autopsy, they briefed him on the mission details and the item the attacker had stolen. Rogers also learned that the dealer was in contact with a myterious organization. As the meeting ended, he and Romanoff were promised by Hill to keep them them informed while SHIELD tracked its only known member, "Capricorn".

Events of Marvel's Avengers

A-Day

Along with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Black Widow, Rogers attended A-Day to celebrate the opening of their West Coast Headquarters and the unveiling of their personal helicarrier, the Chimera. During the event, he witnessed Kamala Khan stand up to a heckler, leading him to give her one of the comics needed for VIP access. Rogers also reassured her that they had read her comics, even claiming that Thor had gotten a kick out of her story. He was called away by Romanoff to appear on stage to talk about the Terrigen Crystal power source. Rogers personally introduced George Tarleton on stage to talk about the specifics of the generator.

When Taskmaster and his mercenaries attacked the Golden Gate Bridge, Captain America remained aboard the Chimera while the rest of the team dealt with the incident. While aboard, Rogers was attacked by Masters' agents sent to take over the Chimera's bridge. After defeating the attackers, he made his way to the Terrigen generator to help Tarleton, where he learned there was an unknown heat signature which upset the San Andreas Fault and was drawing them into the San Francisco Bay.

Knowing that the entire West Coast could be destroyed unless he destroyed the Crystal, Rogers ordered Tarleton to seal him inside the reactor and to get to the Command Deck. Once locked inside, Cap smashed the reactor with his shield. While the action did stop the reactor and caused the heat signature to disappear, the chain reaction caused the Chimera to crash and destroyed most of San Francisco. This also released Terrigen Mist into the air, creating countless Inhumans around the city. Due to the damage done to the Chimera, Captain America was believed to have died in the tragedy. It, along with Banner's testimony at Congress, were the main factors in disbandment of the Avengers.

Unknown to all except Monica Rappaccini, Rogers survived the events and was placed into cryogenic storage. Taking blood samples from him, she was able to create a regenerative serum, which she used to treat Tarleton when he began to display Inhuman abilities. Using her newly acquired resources from the AIM takeover of SHIELD, Monica hid Roger's body on the space satellite Ambrosia. Using his DNA to continually create her serum, he was kept in cryogenic storage to prevent him from escaping. Cap's fate and his presence on the satellite remained a secret to all except Rappaccini and several other trusted individuals.

Reassembling the Avengers

Five years later, Ambrosia was discovered by the Avengers through both Kamala's observations of it on Monica's console and a comment she made during an interrogation. After acquiring the necessary materials to finish a suit that could survive in space, Iron Man traveled to and explored the satellite, hoping it contained captive Inhumans. After he discovered the Hibernation chamber and opened it, Rogers awakened after five years of hibernation, leading to his reunion with the shocked Stark. Learning briefly what had happened over the five years, the two made their way to the escape pod.

Though initially weakened from the time in the chamber, Rogers was able to navigate the satellite and fought a number of AIM Synthoids sent to stop them. Able to escape before Rappaccini detonated the space station, they were drawn off course into deep space by the explosion. While trapped there, Rogers explained the reasons behind his destruction of the Terrigen reactor to Stark, who had seen the video recording of him doing so. Though they expected to die, their pod was grabbed by Thor, who brought them back to Earth and to the rebuilt Chimera.

Returning to a rebuilt Chimera, Steve reunited with the other Avengers and regained his lost shield. While talking to Nat, they deduced that Monica had hired Taskmaster to steal the Terrigen crystals, thus causing the Chimera's security protocols to activate. Steve also realized that the Terrigen had reacted with something in the bay, causing the Earthquakes and destruction of San Francisco. Having learned of the damage done by his actions, he began to wonder whether he had done the right thing, but was reassured by Natasha. Interrupted by Kamala, Steve joined the rest of the Avengers in a briefing. Learning from JARVIS that AIM were using a recent incident in Manhattan to round up Inhumans, he decided to stop them and show the world their true colors.

Confronting MODOK

After acquiring the necessary materials to complete their Stark Tech Suits, Rogers learned that AIM had deployed a Warship to round up Inhumans. Deciding to confront it, he ordered the team to intercept it in Manhattan and destroy the machine. Upon arrival, the group rescued captive Inhumans from both AIM forces and Watchdogs. After checking on them in a nearby safehouse, the group fought and destroyed the Warship, taking its black box to investigate further.

Noticing that the Warship had been deploying Dark Terrigen, the Avengers deduced that Tarleton was planning on destroying all Inhumans and release more across the globe. With JARVIS tracing the signal to the San Francisco Bay, Rogers decided to investigate the area and stop them. Outfitted with new costumes, the Avengers surveyed the area in the Quinjet, locating the base in the middle of the bay. With Hulk, Thor and Iron Man, Cap provided a distraction for Widow and Khan to slip in and hack into the security systems.

Arriving in a monitoring room, Cap learned that the attacks had started. Moments later, Tarleton, now calling himself MODOK, appeared on screen and revealed his plans to get rid of superpowered individuals across the world. Enraged, Rogers destroyed the screen and ordered them to press the attack. With Hulk, Cap located the forcefield generators and destroyed them. Having been singled out by MODOK, they were forced to fight a majority of AIM's forces, including Adaptoids and Quad Mechs.

With Widow able to get the doors open, Cap was able to get in before Tarleton overrode her actions. Separated from the other Avengers, he ordered them to provide a distraction while he navigated his way to the transmission tower. During it, Cap came to the conclusion that MODOK might have misremembered details of A-Day and come to believe the propaganda AIM had pushed. Arriving at the tower, he destroyed the cores, though the signal continued. Realizing that the tower was a decoy and the signal was coming from the excavation site, Cap made his way to it, covered by Thor and Iron Man. With the team assembling, he realized that it was actually MODOK who was producing the signal through his technokinesis.

When MODOK appeared to engage them, Captain America coordinated the Avengers and destroyed his Terrigen power source. He and Black Widow also focused their efforts on defeating him while the others either rescued Inhumans or fought the recently uncovered Kree Sentry: the object that had disrupted the San Andreas fault. Caught off guard and captured by MODOK, Cap was held within a forcefield during the Inhuman's fight with Black Widow. He was eventually freed, either by her destruction of MODOK's power-enhancing technology or by Kamala destroying the Sentry.

Some time after the mission, Rogers was present when Kamala awakened, complementing her for embiggening herself to destroy the Sentry. At Banner's request, he and the other Avengers gave them some privacy to talk.

Reigning Supreme

Some time after MODOK's defeat, Captain America and the Avengers were contacted by Maria Hill, who informed them that Rappaccini had become AIM's new Scientist Supreme. Though considered criminals and vigilantes, he vowed they would expose the company's true motives and help their allies. Rogers led the Avengers on several missions, most notably attacking AIM's communications hub. He also coordinated an attack with both SHIELD and the Resistance on AIM's Manhattan facilities, ultimately bringing the two factions together. After taking on a massive Hive facility and defeating a clone of Rappaccini, Rogers and other Avengers decided to officially induct Kamala, now using Carol's old Ms. Marvel identity, into the Avengers.

Taking AIM

After reuniting with Kate Bishop, Captain America and the other Avengers helped her and SHIELD investigate AIM's involvement with Tachyon Rifts. After apprehending and interrogating Dr. Lyle Getz, Rogers approached Bishop in the middle of practice, hoping to make amends for the lack of contact with the team. Believing he'd was partially responsible for this by not preparing the Avengers to move on without him, Cap offered to induct her into the team as a full-time member. He later joined Kate in investigating the source of the Tachyon disruptions, where they learned that AIM was developing time-travel technology and that Hawkeye was apparently working with them.

Cap helped the Resistance construct their own Time Bridge to retrieve Hawkeye before he went to the future. After successfully retrieving him, he assembled the Avengers to welcome Barton back and learn about Nick Fury's fate. From Clint, Rogers learned that the Kree Empire was going to invade Earth in the future and that Fury was currently helping the timeline's Monica combat the invasion. They also learned that the SHIELD director had decided to bring Barton to the timeline so he could collect information and travel back to warn them. Deciding to prepare immediately, Rogers asked Hawkeye how they should start. When Barton fell comatose mid-answer due to the effects of Cosmic Energy, Cap helped Kate try to revive him.

Further Battles with AIM

Rogers was active in the Avengers' investigations into the future after Barton awoke from his coma. Eventually, after they discovered that the future Rappaccini had locked the last day of the battle within a time barrier, the Avengers decided to continue their investigations into the future Wastelands to recover data on the Kree. Rogers also took part in the challenges set by Yelena Belova after she hacked into the HARM Room.

After these, Rogers took part in the assualt on AIM's tundra facily after learning Rappaccini had created the Cosmic Cube. Together, he and the Avengers defeated her and obtained the cube, though at the sacrifice of the Kree Timeline's Hawkeye. Rogers later entrusted the cosmic cube with Hank Pym, hoping to discover the secrets and use it against the Kree in the future.

Abilities

Captain America's move set is more grounded than the other Avengers. He relies completely on martial arts, acrobatics and his shield, though he can still hit fast and hard without being flashy. Generally considered the leader of the team, Cap appropriately has some utility as a support character, like with his Rally Cry specialty support skill. Cap also functions well as a Tank with the right skill allotment

Captain America's skills include:

  • Shield Block: Captain America's shield can block both melee and projectile attacks. Press or hold [R2]/[RT] to block. Pressing [R2]/[RT] just before a projectile impact will knock the projectile back at the attacker. It is very effective to parry against red indicators.

Notes

  • In Marvel Comics, Steven "Steve" Rogers / Captain America debuted in Captain America Comics #1 (March 1941). He was the first character to join the Avengers after their formation and been associated with most versions of the team. Rogers has occasionally abandoned the identity, using others such as Nomad and the Captain. The "Captain America" identity has also been adopted by multiple characters, often when Rogers has abandoned it or, in some cases, his apparent deaths. Several of the replacements have associations with the Avengers, including his former sidekick James "Bucky" Barnes and friend Sam Wilson.
  • With the exception of Thor, Captain America is the only Avenger able to lift Mjolnir, albeit slightly. This is a reference to Marvel Cinematic Universe version, who was able to do the same in a contest in Avengers: Age of Ultron and later wielded it in Avengers: Endgame. Similarly, other versions of Cap, including the comic's universe version, have proven worthy of wielding Mjolnir.
  • Captain America is one of the two characters who can change weapon designs, another being Iron Man. Captain America’s case is his shield designs.
  • Captain America, like Hulk, also features a outfit based on a villainous counterpart, Hydra Supreme from 2017's Secret Empire event. Unlike Maestro (Hulk's counterpart), Hydra Supreme does not feature in the game either as a boss or part of a storyline.

Trivia

  • According to Kamala Khan, Captain America is being "shipped" with Captain Marvel as "Captain Americarvel". Steve also claims fans of this have websites.
