Nazi Germany were a group of antagonists appearing in Marvel's Avengers: Captain America. They served as enemies to Captain America and the Allied Forces during World War II.

History[]

The Nationalist Socialist German Workers Party (known simply as the Nazis) took over Germany with totalitarian rule during the 1930s. During World War II, they fought against multiple countries, including the United States of America, and took over sizable parts of Europe, including France and parts of Scandinavia. The Nazis frequently fought against Captain America, a super-soldier created by the United States Army specifically to fight against them.

At some point when the Nazis led by Ulysses Klaue's father found Wakanda and attempt to steal it by force, the World War II era's Black Panther and Wakandan join forces with the Allies, and kills Ulysses' father, causing the Nazis to retreat.

In 1943, the Nazis set up a trap to capture the hero, hoping to use him to create their own super-soldier formula and enhance their army. Setting up within a French radar station, they placed a number of scientists and minimal guard to trick the hero into attacking. However, the reconnaissance team, including Clarence Davis, quickly realized the ploy and were able to warn Cap before he entered. Rather than stand down, the super-soldier helped raid the base and defeat the forces, during which they captured several essential scientists.

By 1945, the Nazis were defeated by the Allies and Russian governments. After the end of the war, many of its surviving key members stood trial and condemned. The countries the Nazis invaded were either liberated by the Allies or merged into the Soviet Union, depending on who had taken them over during the conflict.

Decades later, in an angrily-worded email to Dr. Andrew Forson by Hank Pym, he compares the former’s involvement in the experimentation and torture of Inhumans to the experiments conducted by Josef Mengele, a sadistic Nazi officer and scientist, saying that the scale of the inhuman experiments was enough to make Mengele jealous.

Trivia[]

  • In both Marvel Comics and the real world, the Nazis was a German political state formed by Adolf Hitler. The group took control as a totalitarian state, spread fascist and nationalist views through propaganda, and slaughtered millions in a mass persecution dubbed the Holocaust. Their invasion of Poland led to World War II, during which they invaded most of Europe. However, the Nazis were eventually defeated by the Allied Forces in 1945, with many of its members being tried and executed for various war crimes.
  • In Marvel Comics, Captain America was created to fight against the Nazis during World War II, with other heroes such as Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos also taking part in the fight. Members of the former's rogues gallery have also been either allied or members of the organization, including the Red Skull, Barons Wolfgang von Strucker and Heinrich Zemo, and Hydra.
  • In the real world, Captain America was created as a response to the Nazis' propaganda, particularly for their views on human beings.
